The documentary film Guru Muni - Being & Becoming, depicts the life of Guru Muni Narayana Prasad, who is currently the head of Narayana Gurukula, in Kerala.
The documentary follows a young boy’s desire, the Tao and his courage to fulfil that desire against the social patterns and practices. He faces struggles to find a meaningful way of life in a world in which all talk of purpose has become obscure.
Guru Muni was a disciple of Dr. Nataraja Guru (1895-1973) and Guru Nitya Chaitanya Yati (1924-1999)
The ‘Tao’ leads a young Prasad to the Gurukula again, where he meets and forms meaningful relationships with both Dr. Natarajan and Mr Jayachandran, two great men of wisdom. We learn they are more than what they seem and realises his journey with the Gurukula has just begun. Realising that Dr Natarajan is not an easy Guru to understand and to live with he decides to make Gurukula his new home and not to leave.
His father needs him to return home and Prasad must make tough choices. His father becomes bedridden with a terminal disease. Should he return to the family of origin, or should he pursue his svadharma?
Cutting all family relationships; he goes through huge change plunging into the deeper unknown. Prasad seeks a more purposeful and truthful living.
Prasad becomes a Sanyasin, and he becomes the Guru of Gurukula in 1999.
A fascinating spiritual journey of the pursuit for happiness within oneself and with the universe. His Absolutist way of life is the philosophy and shares this wisdom for seekers that come to the Gurukula.
